The year Glen Seton had it won... but panicked when good old Larry Perkins came after him. Seton pushed his engine so hard to stay in first place that he blew it up. It was sort of sweet justice after Glen had put John Bowe... the leader of the race... into the wall.
Larry Perkins made history by winning it after having a flat tyre on the first lap... which actually made him start the race one lap behind the rest of the field. What an achievement!
